The House of Édition — Est. 2014
Fashion is a form
of expression.
We create clothing that speaks before you do — crafted with intention, worn with conviction.
Our Story
Born from a love of editorial fashion
Founded in London in 2014 by creative director Isabelle Fontaine, Édition was shaped in the pages of fashion magazines and the ateliers of Paris — and built on one belief: that a garment can be both commerce and art.
“We didn’t want to make clothes. We wanted to make a language.”
— Isabelle Fontaine, Creative DirectorToday we show seasonal collections in Paris and Milan — each a new chapter in an ongoing editorial story.
Our Philosophy
The principles behind
every stitch
Three ideas guide everything we design, source, and create — from first sketch to final garment.
Intentional Craft
Design & MakingEvery garment begins with a question: does this need to exist? If yes — we make it slowly, with materials chosen for longevity over trend. Craft is not an aesthetic. It is a commitment.
Expressive Restraint
Aesthetic DirectionWe say more with less. Our collections are edited ruthlessly — a process that results in pieces that carry weight, presence, and meaning. Restraint is not minimalism. It is confidence.
Worn, Not Displayed
Human & WorldFashion exists in motion — on bodies, in streets, in the world. We design for the life you actually live, in silhouettes that move and fabrics that improve with time. Clothing should be used, loved, and kept.
The Journey
A decade of
editorial milestones
From a Hackney studio to six flagship stores — ten years of making fashion that means something.
Isabelle Fontaine launches Édition from a Hackney studio with a debut collection of 12 pieces. Sell-out in three weeks.
Our Mayfair flagship opens its doors, designed as a living editorial space — part retail, part gallery.
Named Emerging Brand of the Year. Vogue UK features Édition in their annual Best British Brands issue.
We open our Paris atelier in Le Marais, enabling hand-finishing on every tailored piece.
Full supply chain transparency achieved. 100% of fabrics sourced from certified ethical mills in Italy, Portugal, and Japan.
Ten years. Six flagship stores. Forty-two seasonal collections. One unwavering belief: fashion is a form of expression.
The People
The creative minds
behind Édition
A small, deliberate team united by the belief that clothing should say something before you speak.
Founder & Creative Director
Isabelle Fontaine
Central Saint Martins · London, UK
Previously head of design at Céline, Isabelle founded Édition in 2014 with a singular conviction — that fashion is a language, not a product. Her collections have been featured in Vogue Paris, i-D, and Harper’s Bazaar. Named BFC Emerging Talent of the Year in 2018.
“Fashion should feel like something you discovered — not something you were sold.”
Head of Materials & Sustainability
James Alderton
Textile Engineering · Joined 2019
A textile engineer and supply chain specialist, James has spent 15 years building responsible sourcing programmes across Europe, Portugal, and Japan. At Édition he leads our full materials strategy — from fibre selection to end-of-life care — ensuring every piece is made to last.
“The most sustainable garment is the one you never want to throw away.”
Senior Designer — Womenswear
Nadia Osei
Royal College of Art · Joined 2021
An RCA graduate renowned for her mastery of draped construction, Nadia defines Édition’s womenswear visual language season by season. Her silhouettes — precise yet fluid — are built on a deep understanding of how fabric behaves on a real body in real life.
“Every collection is a conversation between the archive and the next century.”
Worn, Written & Remembered
The cashmere sweater is unlike anything I’ve owned. It drapes perfectly and feels luxurious without being fussy — I’ve worn it almost every day since.
The structured tote is hands-down the best investment I’ve made. Beautifully constructed, incredibly functional, and it gets better with every use.
I ordered the wool coat hesitantly — I was wrong to hesitate. The fit, the weight, the warmth. It’s the coat I’ll wear for the next twenty years.
Édition’s satin dress is everything I wanted — elegant, versatile, and impossibly smooth. I’ve dressed it up and down and it always looks exactly right.
